Your first visit to Twin Cities Movement: chiropractic and rehabilitation will start with a comprehensive history and physical exam. We will ask several questions aimed at finding out what the initial cause of your condition may have been, as well as talking about your general health, level of fitness, and potentially nutrition (although we focus first on the biomechanical issue at hand).
Our physical exam is used to find out what you are able to do without pain, as well as finding out what movements cause your pain. We also perform a functional exam based on common movements that humans develop in our first year, for instance, the way you breathe and squat. We perform this part of the exam because very frequently the site of pain is not the issue that needs focus. If we keep working on the area of pain but the dysfunction causing the pain is still present, the pain will keep coming back.
Before we start treatment we will explain our findings to you in a simple and straightforward way, and we will talk about what we can do to work with you to resolve your issue.
Our treatment consists of active care as often as possible, so wear workout clothes, and even be prepared to possibly do some exercise on a workout mat (sometimes you just need to start on the floor). In addition to whatever exercises are needed, we will draw extensively from our toolbox, using Active Release Technique, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, K-Laser therapy (for an additional fee), and Rocktape, in addition to many other techniques as needed.
At the end of the visit we will re-check some of the movements that we found dysfunctional to ensure that we made some beneficial change in the office, and we will email you videos of the rehab exercises you should perform in the time between visits.
