We're going to try something a little different this month. We want to remove the mystery about what we do in the office. If you have neck pain and come to see us, we'll provide adjustments and soft tissue work to loosen the joints and muscles in the area. Then we'll provide simple exercises like these to reinforce the new movements. Feel free to give these a try.
The exercises and movements we prescribe are used to control the new ranges of motion we gain with our manual therapy. They support you outside of the office when you have neck pain. The work you do outside of the office is just as important to alleviate your neck pain as the work you do in our office, probably more so. We want you to be able to manage your own symptoms throughout life, and only see us when you really need to.
The most important thing to manage neck pain is to keep moving and take micro-breaks throughout the day. This is to make sure your body doesn't spend too much time in any one position. This is great practice when you have any pain at all, or when you have no pain, in order to keep pain away. Movement variability is very helpful to maintain physical independence and increase quality of life. We like to help people feel strong enough to manage their own pain, and we're happy to help them find out how.
Feel free to send us a message on facebook if you have any questions about neck pain, or any other condition.
